Orchard River Garden Park is a townhome community established in 1971. Centrally located in Tucson we are minutes from shopping, medical facilities, schools and many local amenities such as the Catalina Mountain hiking trails, Sabino Canyon, Pima Air and Space Museum, Tucson Zoo and Tucson Botanical Gardens. Our community is ideally located at the historically significant confluence of the Pantano and Tanque Verde Washes and has the conveniences of modern suburbia with the peace and quiet of out of town living. We border historic Fort Lowell Park and Pantano Wash which is part of the "The Loop," a biking, walking and jogging trail that connects with 110 miles of great, vehicle free, outdoor activities.
ORGPA was designed by renowned Tucson architect Robert Swaim. Influenced by the mid century modern garden styles developed by Clarence Stein and prevalent throughout the western United States, ORGPA offers open design living that is very popular today. The town homes are significant as a unique example of the expressionist phase of modern architecture in Tucson. The community includes 136 one and two-story town homes. The National Park Service has voted to list Orchard River on the National Register of Historic Places. National Historic Designation will enable owner occupied homes to have a significant property tax break.
Orchard River is located within part of the historic Hardy Pecan Ranch. We have common areas of lawn, decomposed granite and both mature and new landscape plantings which offer a unique and tranquil setting. Our solar heated swimming pool and shade ramadas provide a great place to relax with family and friends. Orchard River is a Neighborhood Watch Community in good standing with the Tucson Police Department and is part of the larger Old Fort Lowell Neighborhood (OFLNA) with the historic San Pedro Chapel as its community center.
